Austrian Julia Grabher, the No 5 seed, reached the last 16 of the Hamburg Open by winning against Romanian qualifier Miriam Bulgaru 6-4, 6-4 at Am Rothenbaum.
Grabher, ranked No 61, will face Diana Shnaider next.
