Serb Olga Danilovic edged out German Noma Noha Akugue 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (6) to advance to the last 8 of the Hamburg European Open on Wednesday afternoon.
Danilovic, ranked No 121, will face Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the top seed, next.
The Serb won against Slovak Rebecca Sramkova, the No 6 seed (6-3, 6-1) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Noha Akugue, ranked No 252, defeated Serb Nina Stojanovic (7-6 (4), 6-1).
