Former world No 1 Simona Halep, of Romania, defeated Slovenian Tamara Zidansek 6-0, 6-3 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Bad Homburg Open on Wednesday evening.
Halep, ranked No 19, will face No 6 seed Amanda Anisimova next. The American scored a 6-0, 6-2 win over Ann Li.
After a close battle in the first round where she beat Czech Katerina Siniakova 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, Halep looked in absolute control of the one-hour, six-minute contest
