Halep comes from a set and a break down to beat Siniakova in Bad Homburg Open
Simona Halep edged out Katerina Siniakova 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 and will face Slovenian Tamara Zidansek in the next round in Bad Homburg
Former world No 1 Simona Halep, of Romania, needed all her experience and determination to come from a set and a break down to defeat Czech Katerina Siniakova 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 and move into the second round of the Bad Homburg Open at Bod Hombourg vor der Höhe in Bad Homburg on Tuesday.
Halep, the No 4 seed, lost the first set 6-4 and was down 3-0 in the second before mounting her comeback. She won nine games in a row to claim the second set 6-3 and move ahead 3-0 in the decider.
Siniakova brought the match back to serve at 5-4 but was broken in the 10th game once again by Halep, who will next face Slovenian Tamara Zidansek.
Zidansesk defeated Yuliya Hatouka 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 in another first round match.
