Guadalajara Open: Ostapenko ends Bouchard run to reach last 16

Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 12 seed, advanced to the last 16 of the Guadalajara Open by winning against Canadian wildcard Eugenie Bouchard 7-5, 2-6, 6-1 at the Centro Panamericano de Tenis on Wednesday evening.
Ostapenko, ranked No 23, will play the winner of the match between Russian Veronika Kudermetova, the No 8 seed, and Croat wildcard Donna Vekic next.
The Latvian beat American qualifier Lauren Davis (6-1, 6-3) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Bouchard, ranked No 430, won against American Kayla Day (7-5, 6-3), her first win at WTA 1000 level since 2019.
