Guadalajara Open: Osorio produces brilliant comeback to make quarter-finals
Camila Osorio edged out Veronika Kudermetova 7-6, 6-7 (2), 7-5 on Wednesday and will play Russian Kamilla Rakhimova in the next round
Colombian Camila Osorio edged out Russian Veronika Kudermetova, the No 7 seed, 7-6, 6-7 (2), 7-5 to reach the last eight of the Guadalajara Open at the Panamerican Tennis Center on Wednesday.
Osorio was behind 5-0 in the final set, with Kudermetova serving for the match. The Columbian then won seven straight games to comeback and win.
Osorio, ranked No 80, will play Russian Kamilla Rakhimova next.
In the previous round of the Guadalajara tournament, the 22-year-old Colombian won against American Hailey Baptiste (6-3, 6-2).
Kudermetova, ranked No 42, beat American lucky loser Sachia Vickery (6-4, 6-4) in the previous round of the Guadalajara tournament.
