Guadalajara Open: Garcia makes quarter-finals
Caroline Garcia won against Ena Shibahara 7-6 (3), 7-6 (5) on Thursday evening and will play No 6 seed Marie Bouzkova in the next round
Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 4 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Guadalajara Open by winning against Japanese qualifier Ena Shibahara 7-6 (3), 7-6 (5) at the Panamerican Tennis Center on Thursday evening.
Garcia, ranked No 30, will face No 6 seed Marie Bouzkova next.
In the previous round of the Guadalajara tournament, Shibahara, ranked No 169, defeated Australian qualifier Kimberly Birrell (6-4, 7-6 (4)).
