Guadalajara Open: Qualifier Gadecki beats Osorio to reach first WTA final
Olivia Gadecki defeated Camila Osorio 6-2, 6-3 and will face Magdalena Frech in the final
Australian qualifier Olivia Gadecki reached the final of the Guadalajara Open by beating Colombian Camila Osorio 6-2, 6-3 at the Panamerican Tennis Center.
Gadecki, ranked No 152, will play the winner of the match between Pole Magdalena Frech, the No 5 seed, and Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 4 seed, next.
The 22-year-old Australian defeated American Sloane Stephens (6-4, 6-3), American Danielle Collins, the second seed (6-3, 6-3) and Italian Martina Trevisan (6-2, 3-6, 6-1) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Osorio, ranked No 80, won against American Hailey Baptiste (6-3, 6-2), Russian Veronika Kudermetova, the No 7 seed (7-6, 6-7 (2), 7-5) and Russian Kamilla Rakhimova (7-6 (6), 6-2).
