Guadalajara Open: Frech edges past Garcia to reach final

Pole Magdalena Frech, the No 5 seed, moved into the final of the Guadalajara Open by beating Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 4 seed, 7-6 (4), 7-5 at the Panamerican Tennis Center.
Frech, ranked No 43, will play Australian qualifier Olivia Gadecki next.
The Pole won against American Emina Bektas (6-4, 6-4), American Ashlyn Krueger (3-6, 6-3, 6-1) and Canadian wildcard Marina Stakusic (6-4, 6-3) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Garcia, ranked No 30, defeated Japanese qualifier Ena Shibahara (7-6 (3), 7-6 (5)) and No 6 seed Marie Bouzkova (W/O).
