Italian Camila Giorgi won against Spaniard Cristina Bucsa 6-1, 6-2 to advance to the last 16 of the Guadalajara Open Akron on Tuesday evening.
Giorgi, ranked No 56, will play the winner of the match between Australian Storm Hunter and Greek Maria Sakkari, the second seed, next.
The Italian beat Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the No 14 seed (7-5, 6-3) in the previous round.
In the previous round, Bucsa, ranked No 87, won against Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic (6-0, 6-0).
