Italian Camila Giorgi won against Egyptian Mayar Sherif, the No 14 seed, 7-5, 6-3 to reach the round of 32 of the Guadalajara Open Akron on Monday evening.
Giorgi, ranked No 56, will face Spaniard Cristina Bucsa next.
