Caroline Dolehide edged out Peyton Stearns 6-7 (1), 7-6 (5), 7-6 (2) to move into the round of 32 of the Guadalajara Open Akron on Monday evening.
Dolehide, ranked No 111, will face the winner of the match between lucky loser Sachia Vickery and Danielle Collins next.
