Guadalajara 125 Open: Maria reaches final

German Tatjana Maria, the No 4 seed, won against Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, the top seed, 6-0, 6-2 to advance to the final of the Guadalajara 125 Open on Friday evening.
Maria, ranked No 99, will face the winner of the match between Colombian Emiliana Arango and Russian Kamilla Rakhimova, the No 5 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the 37-year-old German beat American Kayla Day (7-6 (7), 6-4), Filipino Alexandra Eala (7-5, 6-2) and Australian Olivia Gadecki (7-5, 6-0).
Schmiedlova, ranked No 87, defeated wildcard Julia Garcia Ruiz (4-6, 6-2, 6-0), Australian qualifier Kimberly Birrell (6-2, 6-3) and American Emina Bektas, the No 6 seed (6-3, 6-2) in the previous rounds.
