Australian qualifier Kimberly Birrell reached the last 16 of the Guadalajara 125 Open by defeating Croat wildcard Ana Konjuh 6-2, 7-5 on Tuesday night.

Birrell, ranked No 147, will face Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, the top seed, next.
