Colombian Emiliana Arango reached the last four of the Guadalajara 125 Open by edging out Canadian Rebecca Marino 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 on Thursday evening.
Arango, ranked No 142, will face Russian Kamilla Rakhimova, the No 5 seed, next.
In the previous rounds, the Colombian beat Mexican wildcard Ana Karen Guadiana Campos (6-0, 6-1) and American Elizabeth Mandlik (6-4, 3-6, 6-2).
Marino, ranked No 139, won against Mexican Renata Zarazua, the No 3 seed (6-4, 6-2) and Australian Astra Sharma (6-3, 7-6 (9)) earlier in the tournament.
