Frenchwoman Jessika Ponchet advanced to the quarter-finals of the Grand Est Open by beating Russian qualifier Erika Andreeva 6-7 (6), 6-2, 6-3 at Tennis Club de Contrexéville on Thursday evening.
Ponchet, ranked No 222, will play Spaniard Cristina Bucsa next.
The Frenchwoman won against Spaniard Andrea Lazaro Garcia (6-1, 4-6, 6-3) in the previous round.
In the previous round, Andreeva, ranked No 162, won against Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin, the No 4 seed (6-3, 7-6 (5)).
