Grand Est Open: Ferro reaches semi-finals
Fiona Ferro won against Cristina Bucsa 6-2, 6-2 on Friday afternoon and will face Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus, the No 4 seed, in the next round
French wildcard Fiona Ferro defeated Spaniard Cristina Bucsa, the second seed, 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the semi-finals of the Grand Est Open at Tennis Club de Contrexéville in Contréxeville on Friday afternoon.
Ferro, ranked No 301, will play Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus, the No 4 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the Frenchwoman won against Slovak Rebecca Sramkova (7-5, 0-6, 6-2) and edged out No 6 seed Diane Parry (3-6, 6-2, 7-5).
Bucsa, ranked No 78, beat German Tamara Korpatsch (1-6, 6-4, 6-3) and French wildcard Tessah Andrianjafitrimo (6-0, 6-0) in the previous rounds of the Contréxeville tournament.
