Yafan Wang won the title on Saturday night against Kamilla Rakhimova
Chinese qualifier Yafan Wang defeated Russian Kamilla Rakhimova, the second seed, 6-2, 6-0 to win the Golden Gate Open at Stanford trophy on Saturday night.
Wang, ranked No 158, beat Ukrainian Daria Snigur (1-6, 6-2, 6-1), German Tamara Korpatsch, the top seed (6-1, 7-5), Japanese qualifier Mai Hontama (6-3, 6-3) and Japanese Moyuka Uchijima (6-3, 5-7, 7-5) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Rakhimova, ranked No 80, defeated wildcard Angelica Blake (7-5, 2-6, 6-1), American Robin Montgomery (7-5, 6-3), Belarusian qualifier Iryna Shymanovich (6-3, 2-6, 6-4) and Chinese Yue Yuan (6-3, 6-7 (10), 6-3).
