Golden Gate Open at Stanford: Uchijima moves into quarter-finals after Hibino retirement
Moyuka Uchijima benefited from the abandonment of Nao Hibino (7-5, 2-0) on Wednesday evening and will play the winner of the match between American Kayla Day and Jodie Burrage in the next round

Moyuka Uchijima advanced to the last eight of the Golden Gate Open at Stanford when No 4 seed Nao Hibino retired on Wednesday evening.
Uchijima, ranked No 191, led 7-5, 2-0 when Hibino, ranked No 81, pulled out on Wednesday evening.
Moyuka Uchijima will play the winner of the match between American Kayla Day and Jodie Burrage next.
Uchijima won against American lucky loser Hailey Baptiste (7-6 (3), 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Nao Hibino defeated Russian qualifier Valeria Savinykh (7-5, 6-2).
