Russian Kamilla Rakhimova, the second seed, won against Chinese Yue Yuan 6-3, 6-7 (10), 6-3 to reach the final of the Golden Gate Open at Stanford on Friday evening.
Rakhimova, ranked No 80, will face the winner of the match between Chinese qualifier Yafan Wang and Japanese Moyuka Uchijima next.
In the previous rounds, the 21-year-old Russian defeated wildcard Angelica Blake (7-5, 2-6, 6-1), American Robin Montgomery (7-5, 6-3) and Belarusian qualifier Iryna Shymanovich (6-3, 2-6, 6-4).
Yuan, ranked No 113, beat American Katie Volynets (4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-0), Ukrainian Kateryna Baindl, the No 6 seed (4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-2) and Zhuoxuan Bai (W/O) earlier in the tournament.
