Caroline Garcia moved into the final of the Bad Homburg Open by edging out No 9 seed Alize Cornet 7-6 (9), 3-6, 7-5.
Garcia, ranked No 75, will play Canadian Bianca Andreescu next.
Earlier in the tournament, Caroline Garcia won against Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich (2-6, 6-3, 6-4), Russian qualifier Kamilla Rakhimova (6-3, 6-4) and German wildcard Sabine Lisicki (6-3, 7-6 (7)).
Cornet, ranked No 44, beat Russian Anna Kalinskaya (6-2, 6-4), German wildcard Tatjana Maria (7-6 (4), 6-4) and German Angelique Kerber, the No 3 seed (6-4, 2-6, 6-1) in the previous rounds.
