Japanese qualifier Moyuka Uchijima won against French lucky loser Jessika Ponchet 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 to reach the last 16 of the Galaxy Holding Group Guangzhou Open on Tuesday night.
Uchijima, ranked No 173, will face the winner of the match between qualifier Ya Yi Yang and Italian Lucia Bronzetti, the No 4 seed, next.
