German Tatjana Maria, the No 3 seed, beat Filipino qualifier Alexandra Eala 6-3, 6-0 to advance to the last 16 of the Galaxy Holding Group Guangzhou Open on Tuesday night.

Maria, ranked No 48, will play Chinese wildcard Zhuoxuan Bai next.
