Podoroska books quarter-final spot in Florianopolis

Argentina’s Nadia Podoroska, the No 3 seed, moved into the last eight of the Florianopolis Open by defeating Slovenian Polona Hercog 6-2, 6-3 on Thursday evening.
Podoroska, ranked No 75, will face Romanian qualifier Anca Alexia Todoni in the next round
In the previous round of this Brazil-based tournament, Podoroska beat Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (6-4, 6-1).
Hercog, ranked No 301, previously beat Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle (6-2, 2-6, 6-3).
