Florianopolis Open: Monnet books spot in quarter-finals with win over Shnaider

Frenchwoman Carole Monnet won against Russian Diana Shnaider, the second seed, 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 to reach the quarter-finals of the Florianopolis Open.
Monnet, ranked No 181, will play the winner of the match between American Elizabeth Mandlik, the No 8 seed, and Argentinian Martina Capurro Taborda next.
The 21-year-old Frenchman beat Brazilian wildcard Carolina M. Alves (6-1, 6-2) in the previous round of the Brazilian tournament.
During the first round of the Brazilian tournament, Shnaider, ranked No 65, won against American qualifier Jamie Loeb (6-2, 6-0).
