Florianopolis Open: Ce moves into second round
Gabriela Ce benefited from the retirement of Makenna Jones (3-6, 6-6) on Monday and will face the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Diane Parry, the No 5 seed, and Romanian qualifier Anca Alexia Todoni in the next round
Brazilian wildcard Gabriela Ce moved into the second round of the Florianopolis Open when American qualifier Makenna Jones retired on Monday.
Ce, ranked No 403, led 3-6, 6-6 when Jones, ranked No 242, pulled out of the first-round encounter.
The Brazilian will play the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Diane Parry, the No 5 seed, and Romanian qualifier Anca Alexia Todoni next.
