Slovenian Kaja Juvan edged out American Claire Liu, the second seed, 6-0, 5-7, 6-4 to move into the last 16 of the Firenze Ladies Open on Tuesday.
Juvan, ranked No 130, will play the winner of the match between Italian wildcard Diletta Cherubini and Canadian Eugenie Bouchard next.
