Mexican Renata Zarazua, the top seed, advanced to the final of the Fifth Third Charleston 125 2 when American wildcard Lauren Davis retired on Saturday.
Zarazua, ranked No 60, led 3-6, 7-6 (3), 3-0 when Davis, ranked No 311, pulled out on Saturday evening.
The Mexican will play American Hanna Chang, the No 7 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, Renata Zarazua beat Russian Alina Charaeva (6-2, 7-6 (5)), Spaniard Irene Burillo Escorihuela (6-2, 6-1) and American Louisa Chirico, the No 6 seed (6-2, 6-4).
The American won against Hungarian Panna Udvardy, the No 4 seed (6-1, 6-4), Australian Astra Sharma (6-3, 7-6 (5)) and Romanian qualifier Gabriela Lee (4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-1) earlier in the tournament.
