Kvitova warms up for Wimbledon with Eastbourne title
Petra Kvitova completed the perfect preparation for Wimbledon as she won the Eastbourne International title on Saturday
Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova won her 29th career title – and first for more than a year – as she beat Latvian Jelena Ostapenko 6-3, 6-2 to win the Eastbourne International on Saturday.
The 32-year-old completed the perfect preparation for Wimbledon with a dominant performance to win her fifth grass-court title.
In the previous rounds, Kvitova, ranked No 31, defeated Croat qualifier Donna Vekic (6-1, 7-6 (1)), wildcard Katie Boulter (5-7, 6-0, 7-5), wildcard Harriet Dart (6-3, 6-4) and Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 15 seed (7-6 (5), 6-4).
Ostapenko, ranked No 14, beat Australian Ajla Tomljanovic (6-4, 6-4), American Madison Keys, the No 11 seed (6-3 ret.), Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina (6-3, 6-2) and Italian Camila Giorgi, the No 12 seed (6-2, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
