Dutch Open: Sasnovich into semis as Samsonova retires in second set
Aliaksandra Sasnovich benefited from the abandonment of Liudmila Samsonova (7-6 (4), 3-1) on Friday and will face the winner of the match between American qualifier Emina Bektas and Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 4 seed, in the next round
Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich, the No 7 seed, moved into the semi-finals of the Dutch Open when Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the second seed, retired due to a thigh injury on Friday at the Autotron Rosmalen in’s-Hertogenbosch.
Sasnovich, ranked No 71, led 7-6 (4), 3-1 when Samsonova, ranked No 15, pulled out on Friday at the Autotron Rosmalen in’s-Hertogenbosch.

The Belarusian will face the winner of the match between American qualifier Emina Bektas and Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 4 seed, next.
Aliaksandra Sasnovich beat Italian Lucrezia Stefanini (6-0, 6-3) and Belgian Greet Minnen (6-2, 4-6, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Rosmalen tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, the Russian edged out German qualifier Lena Papadakis (7-5, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (3)) and won against Polina Kudermetova (6-4, 6-1).
