Dutch Open: Samsonova reaches last eight
Liudmila Samsonova won against Polina Kudermetova 6-4, 6-1 on Wednesday evening and will play Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich, the No 7 seed, in the next round
Second seed Liudmila Samsonova reached the quarter-finals of the Dutch Open by winning against Polina Kudermetova 6-4, 6-1 at the Autotron Rosmalen in’s-Hertogenbosch on Wednesday evening.
Samsonova, ranked No 15, will play Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich, the No 7 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, Liudmila Samsonova edged out German qualifier Lena Papadakis (7-5, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (3)).
Kudermetova, ranked No 141, beat Chinese Yue Yuan (6-4, 6-3) in the previous round of the Rosmalen tournament.
