Dubai Open: Zheng reaches quarter-finals

Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the No 6 seed, defeated Russian Anastasia Potapova 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the last eight of the Dubai Open at The Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Wednesday evening.

Zheng, ranked No 7, will play Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, next.

In the previous round of the Dubai tournament, the 21-year-old Chinese won against Japanese qualifier Nao Hibino (5-7, 6-2, 6-2).

Potapova, ranked No 35, edged out Chinese Lin Zhu (4-6, 6-2, 6-4) and won against Italian lucky loser Lucia Bronzetti (6-0, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Dubai tournament.
