Dubai Open: Swiatek moves into last 16, takes on Svitolina next

Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, reached the last 16 of the Dubai Open by defeating American Sloane Stephens 6-4, 6-4 at The Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Tuesday evening.

Swiatek has now won 72 of her first 90 matches in WTA 1000 events.

Swiatek, ranked No 1, will play Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the No 15 seed, next.

In the previous round of the Dubai tournament, Stephens, ranked No 41, won against French qualifier Clara Burel (6-4, 1-6, 6-2).
