Dubai Open: Swiatek cruises into semi-finals

World No 1 Iga Swiatek, the top seed,extended her winning streak as she beat Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the No 6 seed, 6-3, 6-2 to reach the semi-finals of the Dubai Open on Thursday evening.
The Pole, who won her first title of the year in Doha last week, will play the winner of the match between American Coco Gauff, the No 3 seed, and Russian qualifier Anna Kalinskaya next. She’s now won eight straight matches (including one by walkover.
The 22-year-old Pole won against American Sloane Stephens (6-4, 6-4) and Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the No 15 seed (6-1, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Zheng, ranked No 7, won against Japanese qualifier Nao Hibino (5-7, 6-2, 6-2) and Russian Anastasia Potapova (6-3, 6-2).
