No 15 seed Elina Svitolina advanced to the second round of the Dubai Open by defeating Anhelina Kalinina 6-3, 7-6 (7) at The Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Monday evening.
Svitolina, ranked No 20, will play German Tatjana Maria next.
