Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 6 seed, won against Japanese qualifier Moyuka Uchijima 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the last 16 of the Dubai Open at The Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Tuesday.

Rybakina wrapped up Uchijima’s challenge in an hour, six minutes.

She did it on the back of seven aces and three break-point conversions, also saving her serve from getting broken twice. She’s now one win away from matching her previous performance in Dubai.

Rybakina, ranked No 7, will face Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 9 seed, next.

Uchijima, ranked No 62, beat Latvian Jelena Ostapenko (6-3, 6-3) in the previous round of the Dubai tournament.
