Dubai Open: Muchova through to quarter-finals
Karolina Muchova edged out McCartney Kessler on Wednesday and will play the winner of the match between Sorana Cirstea and Emma Navarro next
No 14 seed Karolina Muchova edged out American McCartney Kessler 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (5) to reach the quarter-finals of the Dubai Open at The Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Wednesday.
Muchova, ranked No 17, will play the winner of the match between Romanian wildcard Sorana Cirstea and American Emma Navarro, the No 8 seed, next.
Karolina Muchova won against Dutch qualifier Suzan Lamens (6-2, 6-2) and wildcard Emma Raducanu (7-6 (6), 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Dubai tournament, Kessler, ranked No 53, defeated Amanda Anisimova (6-2, 6-3) and No 3 seed Coco Gauff (6-4, 7-5).
