ALERT: Krejcikova wins the tournament in Dubai
Barbora Krejcikova won the final on Saturday evening against Iga Swiatek
Czech Barbora Krejcikova defeated Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, 6-4, 6-2 to win the Dubai Duty Free Championships final at The Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Saturday evening.
Krejcikova, ranked No 30, beat Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu (6-4, 6-2), Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 7 seed (6-4, 4-6, 7-5), No 12 seed Petra Kvitova (6-3, 6-2), Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the second seed (0-6, 7-6 (2), 6-1) and American Jessica Pegula, the No 3 seed (6-1, 5-7, 6-0) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds of the Dubai Open, Swiatek, ranked No 1, defeated Canadian Leylah Fernandez (6-1, 6-1), Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 14 seed (6-1, 6-0), American Coco Gauff, the No 5 seed (6-4, 6-2) and Czech Karolina Pliskova (W/O).
