American Amanda Anisimova reached the second round of the Dubai Duty Free Championships by defeating Russian wildcard and former world No 2 Vera Zvonareva 6-3, 6-2 at The Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Sunday.
Anisimova, ranked No 35, will play the winner of the match between Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, the No 15 seed, next.
