Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko, the No 8 seed, won against Swiss Jil Teichmann 7-5, 7-5 to move into the last eight of the Dow Tennis Classic on Wednesday evening.
Tsurenko, ranked No 122, will play the winner of the match between Russian Polina Kudermetova, the No 9 seed, and American wildcard Karina Miller next.
In the previous round, the 35-year-old Ukrainian beat Slovenian Tamara Zidansek (6-2, 6-2).
Teichmann, ranked No 139, won against American Elizabeth Mandlik (7-6 (2), 6-2) in the previous round.
