Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk won against Pole Magda Linette 6-2, 7-6 (5) to advance to the last 16 of the Cymbiotika San Diego Open on Tuesday.
Kostyuk, ranked No 45 in the world, will next face Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 7 seed, who defeated Canadian wildcard Leylah Fernandez in a three-set first round battle.
