San Diego Open: Kenin upsets sixth seed Kudermetova to move into second round
The former Grand Slam champion will play wildcard Katie Volynets in the next round

American wildcard Sofia Kenin reached the last 16 of the Cymbiotika San Diego Open by winning against Russian Veronika Kudermetova, the No 6 seed, 6-4, 6-4 on Tuesday.
Kenin, ranked No 93 in the world and a former Australian Open champion, will play wildcard and fellow American Katie Volynets next.
The former world No 4 is continuing her attempt to climb back to the elite level, having begun the season ranked outside the top 200.
