The American will play No 4 seed Barbora Krejcikova in the last four
American Danielle Collins advanced to the last four of the Cymbiotika San Diego Open by winning against Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the second seed, 6-2, 6-3 on Thursday.
The win maintained Colins’ unbeaten record over Garcia as she has now beaten the Frenchwoman in all the three career meetings, including for the second year in a row in San Diego.
Collins, ranked No 43 in the world and a former Australian Open runner-up, will play No 4 seed Barbora Krejcikova for a place in the final.
In the earlier rounds, the American beat qualifier Louisa Chirico (7-5, 6-0) and Latvian Jelena Ostapenko (2-6, 6-3, 6-4).
Garcia, ranked No 10 in the world, had overcome American Sloane Stephens (6-3, 3-6, 6-1) in the previous round.
