Transylvania Open by Verdino: Blinkova upsets second seed Kalinina to reach semis

Russian qualifier Anna Blinkova reached the last four of the Transylvania Open by Verdino by winning against Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, the second seed, 6-7 (7), 6-1, 6-3 on Friday evening.
Blinkova, ranked No 138, will play Russian Anastasia Potapova, the No 4 seed, next.
In the previous rounds, the Russian defeated qualifier Anastasia Zakharova (6-1, 7-6 (7)) and Chinese Xinyu Wang (6-4, 2-6, 6-1).
Kalinina, ranked No 45, benefited from the abandonment of Canadian wildcard Eugenie Bouchard (6-3) and beat Belgian qualifier Ysaline Bonaventure (6-3, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
