Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus, the top seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Cluj-Napoca Open by defeating French qualifier Alize Cornet 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 at the BTarena on Wednesday evening.
Rus, ranked No 45, will face the winner of the match between Russian qualifier Erika Andreeva and Romanian Ana Bogdan, the No 8 seed, next.
The 33-year-old Dutchman won against Belgian Greet Minnen (7-5, 6-1) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Cluj-Napoca tournament, Cornet, ranked No 104, beat Belgian Yanina Wickmayer (7-5, 4-6, 6-3).
