Cleveland Open: Rus eases into quarter-finals with straightforward win

Arantxa Rus moved into the quarter-finals of the Cleveland Open by beating Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova, the No 7 seed, 6-3, 6-3 at Jacobs Pavilion on Wednesday evening.

Rus, ranked No 95, will face the winner of the match between American wildcard McCartney Kessler and Chinese Xinyu Wang, the No 4 seed, next.

In the previous round of the Cleveland tournament, the 33-year-old Dutchman won against Italian Lucia Bronzetti (6-3, 7-6 (4)).

Tomova, ranked No 50, defeated American wildcard Lauren Davis (6-1, 6-4) in the first round of the Cleveland tournament.
