Mubadala Citi DC Open: Sakkari sweeps past Keys to make sixth semi-final of the season
Maria Sakkari won against Madison Keys 6-3, 6-3 on Friday evening and will play American Jessica Pegula, the top seed, in the next round
Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 4 seed, won against American Madison Keys, the No 7 seed, 6-3, 6-3 to move into the semi-finals of the Mubadala Citi DC Open on Friday evening.
Sakkari, ranked No 9, will play American Jessica Pegula, the top seed, next.
The Greek beat Canadian qualifier Leylah Fernandez (7-5, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds, Keys, ranked No 16, won against Chinese Qinwen Zheng (7-5, 6-1) and Jennifer Brady (6-4, 6-0).
