China Open: Zheng fights back to beat Anisimova and reach quarter-finals
Qinwen Zheng beat Amanda Anisimova 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 on Wednesday and will play Russian Mirra Andreeva, the No 17 seed, in the next round
Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the No 5 seed, won against American Amanda Anisimova, the No 34 seed, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 to reach the last eight of the China Open at the National Tennis Center.
Zheng, ranked No 7, will face Russian Mirra Andreeva, the No 17 seed, next.
The 21-year-old Chinese defeated Russian lucky loser Kamilla Rakhimova (6-1, 6-1) and Argentinian Nadia Podoroska (6-3, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds of the Beijing tournament, Anisimova, ranked No 43, edged out Colombian Camila Osorio (1-6, 6-3, 6-4) and beat Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 9 seed (7-6 (1), 6-4).
