Shuai Zhang ends 24-match losing streak with first round win at China Open
The Chinese wildcard defeated McCartney Kessler 7-6 (5), 7-6 (1) on Wednesday

The longest losing streak in WTA Tour history has ended with local wildcard Shuai Zhang winning her first-round match at the WTA China Open.
Zhang had lost 24 consecutive matches on the WTA Tour, dating back to January 2003 but that streak came to an end on Wednesday as she defeated American McCartney Kessler 7-6 (5), 7-6 (1) at the National Tennis Center in Beijing.
Zhang will play No 6 seed Emma Navarro in the second round. It will be the first meeting between the two players.
