American Coco Gauff, the No 4 seed, beat Karolina Muchova 6-1, 6-3 to lift the China Open trophy at the National Tennis Center in Beijing on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier in the tournament, Gauff, ranked No 6, defeated Frenchwoman Clara Burel (7-5, 6-3), No 26 seed Katie Boulter (7-5, 6-2), Japanese Naomi Osaka (3-6, 6-4 ret.), Ukrainian qualifier Yuliia Starodubtseva (2-6, 6-2, 6-2) and Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 15 seed (4-6, 6-4, 6-2).
Muchova, ranked No 49, beat Russian Anna Blinkova (6-1, 6-1), Chinese Yue Yuan, the No 30 seed (6-3, 6-1), Romanian Jaqueline Cristian (6-1, 6-3), Spaniard Cristina Bucsa (6-2, 6-0), Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the top seed (7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-4) and Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the No 5 seed (6-3, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Beijing tournament.
